Notice to travelers to Cambodia transiting through Bangkok
On 16 December 2025, the Royal Embassy of Cambodia to France issued a statement advising travelers to avoid transiting through Thailand and using Thai Airlines when traveling to Cambodia. This recommendation follows reports of European passengers facing “unacceptable” and rigorous checks at Bangkok airport, including prolonged interrogations, unreasonable demands for proof of financial resources, and verification of hotel reservations in Cambodia. Some passengers also experienced luggage loss upon arrival in Phnom Penh.
The Embassy clarified that while these incidents occur outside Cambodian territory and are beyond the control of Cambodian authorities, they negatively impact the travel experience. It emphasized that Cambodia remains a safe destination and suggested using alternative flight routes and carriers offering better transit conditions.
